Portfolio published in NaturFoto
It has been 5 years since I started photographing arctic foxes. An overview of this work has been published as a portfolio in the renowned German nature photography magazine NaturFoto.
In 2004 my I got the opportunity to spend several months on Svalbard to do research on the impact of climate change to arctic plant species. During this period I fell in love with the beauty of this remote wilderness that still exists in our most Northern regions. Since then I've returned multiple times to try to photograph the beauty of this Norwegian archipelago. Within several years, a lot has changed. It is horrifying to witness the speed in which the impact of our changing climate reveals itself. Not that long ago, Svalbard used to be one of the driest places on this planet. Nowadays rain is trying to dominate the arctic weather. And not without consequences.
The Polarbear, the king of the ice, has for long been the ambassador of our changing climate. His story puts emphasis on the melting ice, which is just one of the many changes occurring in the arctic regions. However, it seems the Polarbear is losing the battle. That's why I'd like to introduce another ambassador. An energetic and opportunistic furball, mostly known for its white fur: The arctic fox. Through these photographs of the true queen of the arctic, I hope bring new perspective to the story of climate change. A story about new threats, competition and food shortage. Within the portfolio published in NaturFoto I present the family life of the arctic fox.

Asferico 2009
A new year, new chances. After being succesful in the Asferico 2008 competition I decided to give it another try. And I'm happy to announce that once again I have been chosen among the winners. My photograph of this little blue tit in its environment has been highly commended in the new category "In praise of marshland".
Over 4000 images from 240 photographers were applied to this international competition (with photographers from 21 countries). Unfortunately I won't be able to attend to the award ceremony, but all winning images can be viewed on the Asferico website soon after the ceremony in April.

National Geographic publication
During the summer of 1999 I bought my first SLR-camera. I still remember how proud I was with that little camera. And now, almost 10 years after I purchased my first SLR-camera I'm very proud to announce my first publication in the national edition of National Geographic Magazine. The February issue of the Dutch edtition will feature a 4 page portfolio about my arctic fox project (which is still running). Through this series of photographs of the arctic fox I try to raise awareness for climate change in our fragile arctic region and for the effects of climate change in general. While the polar bear is the official ambassador for climate change, I'm convinced that we're able to see different problems through the eyes of the arctic fox. Perhaps it is time for a second ambassador?
Note: Also checkout the latest issue of Grasduinen for a coverage on the ICF Pro-Tour 2008 in Texas.

Download FREE wallpapers and replant a forest!
Click HERE to download your daily free Doest Photography wallpaper for the next two weeks!
www.care-and-click.org is the only internet homepage for climate protection of the cultural and aesthetics view in Germany. They fight global warming by planting trees in Europe.
Every day users can download a „Wallpaper of the Day“ for free. For every download corporate partners pay a certain cent- amount for reforestation. Last year for example they were able to plant trees on 60.000 square metres and raised together 6.929,30 EUR for reforestation in Alps. Over 7000 grafts growing now in the earth.
Doest Photography and Care-and-Click are convinced that photo-art play a very important role in nature conservation. The connection between photography, art und global warming is very important for us. We want to motivate people to engage more intensively with our planet by reaching their hearts through photo-art. The charity project was initiated by the German publishing company Knesebeck in summer 2007 and has become the leading website of publishers and artists to commit themselves against climate change. It is run by the non-profit organisation care&click e.V.
